If you don’t get the title reference, you’ve missed a really insignificant part of America culture.
Although there has been some variance, Gallup poll finds that just 18% of Americans approve of the way that Congress is handling its job. This is up from a low of 10% earlier in the year. These are historic lows. These percentages are relatively equal across Democrats and Republicans.
Notice any irony here? WE JUST RE-ELECTED THEM. I’m not sure what to make of these statistics. This is like seeing builders do poor work, hiring them to build your house, then not liking the work they did.
We didn’t like the job they were doing all year in 2012, re-elected them, and continue to not like what they are doing.
I understand we all get tired of politics. We shouldn’t get tired of how our country is run. It’s being run into the ground, apparently because we’re letting it. Political parties aren’t interested in your issues. Political parties are interested in getting their candidates elected. They are the marketing arms for their parties. Special interest groups, are, obviously, interested in the own areas. Only you care about your issues. It gets harder and harder to blame everyone else.
It raises the question of whether people even know who their representatives are, and why they were re-elected.
Here’s a couple ways to find out. Find your representative.
Send them a letter, or an email. Let them know how you think they are doing, and maybe even what you think they should do. It’s your country, Vern.
